Prefect meetings would be so much better if they served complimentary snacks. Think of how much more bearable the three-hundred and fifty-seventh vote on the outlawing of fanged frisbees (still outlawed) would be if there was the promise of ice mice at the end of it! Or some licorice snaps to spice up Filch's annual pre-Halloween appeal for the reintroduction of thumbscrews for discipline (still not happening). Chocolate! There could be chocolate! I think it's the least they could do for making us miss half of lunch.

I just got a letter from my grandma, to say thank-you for the photograph I sent her for her birthday (mum said all of the grandkids did it. IRIS, DID YOU DO THAT? Please tell me I'm not the only current photo on that bloody mantelpiece, right between the porcelain shepherdesses), and then she said it was "really starting to show" that I was "coming from good, hearty Sullivan-Kirke stock". The word "robust" featured prominently. As did "child-bearing hips".
That cherry-banana muffin suddenly looks a lot less appetizing.

[Locked to all Gryffindors, plus 7th-year friends (and friendly acquaintances) in other houses]
Naturally, being a Prefect, I am not actually suggesting we get out after hours for an ill-advised (if well-deserved) night of hedonism this weekend. I am just saying, if one were planning on upholding a certain glorious tradition, one should perhaps get it done before the cold front forecast for next week moves in.

How am I already out of dragon scales? That shouldn't even be possible. Either I accidentally used them all up on my potion this morning (seeing as how my cauldron didn't explode, not bloody likely) or the little lady at Slug & Jiggers never even packed them. Which is not good. Are we still doing the Babbling Beverage on Friday? Has anyone ever asked Doherty to borrow from his stores? Does he let us do that? I doubt they keep dragon scales in the class cupboard.
Unrelated to that, who hexed Rupert's ears bald?
